- Identify a vehicle unsafe for further work
- Use multimeter, current clamps and RT100/IRT01
- Create an initial report and intake checklist
Training equipment
- P03 — vehicle identification, full-system scan, DTC analysis, live data and topology
- Multimeter and current clamps — basic voltage, current and resistance measurements
- RT100 / IRT01 — demonstration of insulation-resistance measurement and safe-HV-state confirmation
Assessment and certification
Theory
- Theory test — 20% of the total score
- Covers EV architecture, HV safety, measurements, diagnostics and the course equipment
Practical exercises
- Practical exercises — 50% of the total score
- Final practical task — 30% of the total score
Completion criteria
- At least 75% of the total score
- All safety-critical procedures must be performed correctly
- A critical safety error automatically terminates the practical exam
- Maximum eight participants; hands-on work in pairs
- At least one equipment set for every two participants
- At least two vehicles, or one EV and one PHEV of different architecture
Final training outcome
TextThe participant can safely receive a vehicle, identify EV components, perform a basic inspection and carry out initial diagnostics without opening or isolating the HV system.
Key points
- Foundation level — first of six EV Technician Academy courses
- Next step: EV 2 — Safe isolation and reactivation of HV systems
Key messageA safe start with EV vehicles — without opening the HV system.
